The Mercian Vineyards Association (MVA) is an organisation dedicated to English & Welsh wine and wine making in the ‘Mercian’ or midlands region. The Mercian Vineyard Association is open to both commercial and private vineyards with a total of 56 vineyard members. It encompasses vineyards from a huge region covering the Scottish and Welsh Borders to the North and West, and Staffordshire and Lincolnshire to the South and East.
The MVA’s annual wine challenge took place this year at The Angel Hotel, Market Harborough, Leicestershire on the 2nd September and was judged to International standards. There were seven categories from Dry white to sparkling.
This has been a fantastic year for us and we are thrilled to have achieved these awards. This is great news for English and Welsh wines too, there has been a revival of interest over the last few years and the quality is greatly improved and much more consistent – consumers are now recognising the high standards of the world-class produce the UK has to offer.
Our ‘Rondo Reserve’ (available in our shop from November) is a deep ruby in colour, with an intense aroma of roasted pepper, eucalyptus and spice. A touch of vanilla with pleasant sweetness on the finish. Watch this space for it's official release date.
